Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is generally an all body massage designed to increase venous blood return to the heart. It is a very relaxing form of massage and is generally the best option when your goal is to decrease mental/emotional stress.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to increase arterial blood flow to an area. The work is deeper than a Swedish massage and is capable of breaking up some connective tissue adhesions. This type of massage is best applied to acute injuries to help interrupt the splinting cycle.

Neuromuscular Therapy & Myofascial Release

Neuromuscular therapy and myofascial release are the most advanced types of massage therapy available. These types of massage treatments consist of working with the body's soft tissues to increase circulation, break up scar tissue/adhesions, decrease muscle tension, eliminate trigger points, promote relaxation and relieve pain. They work best with more chronic conditions and are designed to eliminate pain caused by these conditions.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage has been around for thousands of years. With regular therapeutic massage during pregnancy, the mother-to-be can experience a greater sense of well being with enhanced relaxation, improved circulation and relief of common discomforts. When mom is relaxed and pain-free, the baby benefits as well. Additionally, massage therapy during pregnancy can help to relieve headaches, reduce fatigue and stress, ease backaches and leg cramps, reduce swelling, increase muscle flexibility and provide overall relief for your changing body.

The massage therapists at CCWC are medically trained and have completed a continuing education program in prenatal massage from the Center of Advanced Therapeutics. Complete privacy will be provided for disrobing and proper draping techniques will be utilized throughout the massage. At CCWC we have massage tables with a center cutout that allows the mother-to-be massaged while lying on their stomach.

Should you be experiencing a high risk pregnancy, please check with your physician or midwife to determine if the massage is appropriate during your pregnancy. Massage is not indicated if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: severe morning sickness, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, reduction in fetal movement over a 24 hour period, excessive swelling in any extremity, or restricted to bedrest.
